Building a 40×80 Barndominium Floor: Things You Must Know.

This job should be left to someone with experience, like a contractor. Pouring a barndominium floor or foundation involves pouring concrete.

You do not want to mix it yourself because it would take over 2,500 bags of concrete that weigh 80 pounds.

That is a lot of mixing. You could call a concrete company and ask them to pour it, but someone still has to smooth it out.

You would also need to know how to build and reinforce the frame.

When you hire a contractor, they will ensure that the land is prepped correctly and that the right frame is built and reinforced with rebar.

When the truck brings the concrete, the contractor will have men to help him smooth it out. After it has been cured for three to nine days, it is time to build your barndominium.

With a 40×80 barndominium, the time taken to build a barndominium this size can take between six months to a year.

If bad weather or something unforeseen happens, it will take longer. When building your barndominium, you can use a kit or start from scratch.

Remember, before building your barndominium; you must have a floor upon which to erect it.

Once built, you can add carpet or wooden floors, paint them, and use throw rugs.

40×80 Barndominium Floor Plans With Shop: With Layouts

This is a large barndominium with enough rooms to have as an office, study, and more. In addition, there is the bonus of a shop.

Let’s look at some of the 40×80 Barndominium Floor Plans and find one that suits your lifestyle.

40×80 Barndominium Floor Plans With Shop Example 1 – (Floor Plan 001)

Although this is a well-thought-out 40×80 floor plan with a few misses. There are no master bedrooms.

What could have been used for it? They made it into storage and an office.

There is also no dining area. All there is an island with four stools. The island seems to take up much of the kitchen, leaving little room to move around in.

40x80 Barndominium Floor Plans With Pictures: [Shop Included] (2)

Each of the bedrooms has a bathroom, plus a half bath. There is no bathroom in the shop.

There is a nice living area that a small part of could have been used for a dining area. Although I like how it is laid out, it is missing too much to rate more than a five on my list.

40×80 Barndominium Floor Plans With Shop Example 2 – (Floor Plan 002)

This 40×80 barndominium has a great layout with a few misses. One miss must go through the pantry to get to the laundry room.

There is a master bedroom along with three other bedrooms and an office.

40x80 Barndominium Floor Plans With Pictures: [Shop Included] (3)

The kitchen is huge, with a dining room and living area. Off the living room is the half bath for guests.

There is a nice shop at the end of the barndominium with an entrance into the house through the laundry room or outside. Again, no bathroom in the shop.

This seems to be a feature that is missing in all shops. I would choose this floor plan.

40×80 Barndominium Floor Plans With Shop Example 3 –(Floor Plan 003)

This 40×80 barndominium appears a bit cramped. On one end, you have two bedrooms, each with its bathroom and large closet, but neither is a master bedroom.

When you walk into the living room, off to the right is the kitchen, which is quite small. An island with four stools seems to dominate that area. There is no dining area.

40x80 Barndominium Floor Plans With Pictures: [Shop Included] (4)

On the other side is the shop with a half bath, one of the few floor plans showing that. There is a pantry, office, and storage area, plus a half bath for the guests.

I am not sure how this could be improved to get a master bedroom and dining area. You can enter the shop from the outside or through the house. I would not pick this floor plan.

40×80 Barndominium Floor Plans With Shop Example 4 – (Floor Plan 004)

The layout of this 40×80 barndominium floor plan is laid out pretty well. At one end is the shop where you could open your own business or use it as a man cave.

This one has a master bedroom, four other bathrooms, and a laundry room. There is even a half bath for the guest that is also used by one bedroom.

40x80 Barndominium Floor Plans With Pictures: [Shop Included] (5)

There is a dining area, but the kitchen does not seem that large. On the other end, three bedrooms have to share a bathroom.

The master bedroom is about the same size as the other bedrooms. What makes it a master bedroom is the master bath and walk-in closet. This floor plan is one I would consider using.

40×80 Barndominium Floor Plans With Shop Example 5 – (Floor Plan 005)

This is a unique floor plan for a 40×80 barndominium. It is simple with no extra fancy rooms. You have the master bedroom and the other three bedrooms on one end of the barndominium.

Two of the bedrooms share a large bathroom and across from the last bedroom is another bathroom.

40x80 Barndominium Floor Plans With Pictures: [Shop Included] (6)

Step out into the middle of the barndominium gives a new meaning to the open concept. You can see anywhere in this area, no matter where you are.

Off the kitchen are the pantry and laundry room. On the other end of the barndominium is the shop. It would be great to set up a craft area, start a business, and more.

I would be happy to live in this barndominium.

Can I Build a 40×80 Barndominium on a Medium Budget?

The answer to this question is what a person considers a minimum budget. If a medium budget is $200,000, then the answer is yes.

If it is lower or higher than that, it would depend on the square footage of the living space, where it is being built, and the interior furnishings and appliances.

To find out if it would be feasible on a medium budget, you need to sit down and write down all the costs and see if it fits into the budget you have set for yourself.

I'm James, your barndominiums advisor. Several years ago, I had no idea what barndominiums were. Although I'd spent over 10 years in the construction industry, the first time I heard about barndominiums was when I saw my neighbor building a new-style home. That was the first barndominium I've ever seen, and I found it so fascinating that I wanted to learn more about them.
