Biography[]

The woman that would eventually become Evil-Lyn was born as Lyn, daughter to a poor couple living in the Zalesian slums. On her fifth birthday, her starving parents sought to kill and eat her, though she quickly fled and took refuge within the sewers and spent around twenty years there. She would grow up to be a cunning thief. During one of her robberies, she was chased by two men and cornered, where she attempted to use magic in her desperation. However, since she had no knowledge of magic, it didn't work. She would find herself rescued by Skeletor, a member of the Horde Empire, who would later take her under his wing and taught her magic, allowing her to master it. Lyn would become one of Skeletor's loyal followers and earned the name of "Evil-Lyn", as she supported the Lord of Destruction's conquest for Eternia.

Evil-Lyn helped Skeletor to take control of the extra-dimensional creature the Orlax of Primeria by combining their magical powers. They were trying to translate the Orlax's warning and learn why it came to Eternia half a millennium earlier. However, they also took advantage of the creature's fatal touch by sending it into the Royal Palace of Eternos, where one of its tentacles came into contact with King Randor, who fell into a coma.[1]

Some time later, Skeletor used the Shaping Staff to disguise Evil-Lyn as Clawful, while he himself posed as Spikor and the evil robot double Faker posed as He-Man. Together, they managed to fool The Sorceress long enough to enter Castle Grayskull. Inside, Evil-Lyn faced off against Orko and Teela and witnessed the final battle between Skeletor and He-Man in the heart of the castle, which ended with both warriors seemingly disintegrated by a magical explosion. When the dust settled, all that was left was the top of Skeletor's Havoc Staff, which Evil-Lyn took before she vanished in a ripple of magic.[2]

A Time without Magic[]

Without the sword, all magic began to wane from Eternia. The planet itself was dying out, and with it, the rest of the universe would go. Only by calling on the Power of Grayskull could Eternia possibly be saved. Evil-Lyn somehow lost possession of the remainder of the staff, which had taken on the shape of a magical goblet. Another one of Skeletor's allies, Tri-Klops took hold of it and used it as part of his pro-machine cult known as "Motherboard." By forcing his followers to drink from the goblet, the became cyborgs. Ironically, despite being anti-magic, Tri-Klops used one of the last remaining sources of magic to further his cause.

Evil-Lyn (Revelation) (2)

In the guise of an old lady who called herself Majestra, Evil-Lyn hired Teela, now working as a mercenary, and her new partner Andra to steal the Goblet back for her from Snake Mountain. When they succeeded, 'Majestra' promised to double their pay if they helped her deliver the goblet to Castle Grayskull. There, Evil-Lyn revealed the goblet's true form: the ram shaped skull that used to be the head of the Havoc Staff, and used it to strengthen the magic of the extremely weak Sorceress.

Assisting Teela[]

Teela reluctantly accepted the challenge to seek out the two halves of the Sword of Power, which had returned to their places of origin: Subternia and Preternia and reforge them with the last remaining ember of magic. Evil-Lyn, carrying the top of the Havoc Staff in her satchel, and having in turn received the last ember of magic the Sorceress possessed to add to her own magic staff, decided to join Teela and Andra on their new quest.[3]

Before beginning their quest, Teela sought out her adoptive father, who had gone into exile. They found him battling members of the Motherboard cult while trying to keep safe a small vial filled with magic water from a fountain that the cultist had just destroyed. Teela, Andra and Evil-Lyn came to the aid of the fighting man, but all three of them were bound by the cultist' electrical cables. When Tri-Klops threatened to make Evil-Lyn merge with the Motherboard, they were unexpectedly joined by Beast Man, who had sworn to protect Evil-Lyn. After sending the cult back to Snake Mountain, father and daughter were reunited.

Man-At-Arms refused to help find the two halves of the sword and forge them together. But his creation Roboto, who shared all the memories of a younger version of his maker, proposed that he could join the quest and reforge the sword. Orko, for whom Duncan was caring, also insisted on going with them on one last grand adventure. When Duncan finally decided that he would join them as well, Teela decided that he could better go to Grayskull to protect the powerless Sorceress.

Soon the band of warriors was sailing across the Crystal Sea on a seafaring vessel with Roboto at the helm. They found themselves under attack by the Aquaticans and their ravaged looking leader, Mer-Man. But Man-At-Arms appeared out of nowhere to save the group and force Mer-Man to show them the way to the gate of Subternia. Duncan left again, this time finally heading for Grayskull, and Evil-Lyn used the top of the Havoc Staff to open the gate to the land of the dead.[4]

In the Land of the Dead[]

Once inside, the group of warriors were split up and all had to face their greatest fears, some of them in familiar surroundings. Evil-Lyn and Orko found themselves in a Subternian illusion depicting Orko's home dimension of Trolla, specifically the Academy of Magic. They arrived at the Spell Spring, the never ending source of all Trollan magic, but found it to be completely dry. Orko realized that all the Trollans were gone and Evil-Lyn concluded that meant that the loss of magic was fast spreading across the universe. Orko might well be the last Trollan left. Orko told Evil-Lyn about his youth, and she revealed to him that she wasn't born with the suffix "Evil" in front of her name. Shadows of Trollans suddenly appeared out of nowhere, being drawn to the Spell Spring, where they combined to form a giant Shadow Beast. Evil-Lyn had just used up a bit of magic in her wand, and when she held it up against the Beast, the wand failed her. But when they combined their magic, they were able to defeat the giant Shadow Beast.

The companions were reunited, having all defeated their fears. Teela had recovered the Dark Half of the Sword of Power and Evil-Lyn demanded that Teela give it her, so she could use it in combination with her wand and open a gateway to Preternia by calling upon the almighty Zoar with every last bit of magic she could conjure. But before they could pass through the gate, Scare Glow, Lord of Subternia reappeared and caused stone tentacles to grow out of the ground and grab each of the Warriors by the leg and stalactites to drop from the cavernous ceiling. This time it was Orko who conjured up all the magic that still remained in him, stopping the stalactites from falling and redirecting them at Scare Glow. While his friends and companions freed their legs, Orko used all the magic he had left to stop Scare Glow from advancing. Evil-Lyn attempted to help, but her wand was still not working. Beast Man picked her up and carried her trough the portal. Scare Glow was able to grab Orko's scarf, and both of them disappeared in one last explosion, leaving only a small scrap of Orko's garment to cross over into Preternia with the rest of them.[5]

In Preternia, a tombstone was decorated with Trollan symbols by Adam, who had been rewarded a place in the everlasting realm, to commemorate Orko. Teela left the scrap of his scarf beside it, and Evil-Lyn her helmet. Adam was carrying the light half of the sword of power on his back and surrendered it to Teela willingly. Andra came up with a way to turn the Central Tower of Preternia into a giant forge, and Evil-Lyn used some of the last remaining magic in her want to power up Robot's core so he could reforge the two halves of the sword.[6]

Back on Eternia, the group arrived outside Castle Grayskull, which was under attack by Motherboard and being defended by Man-At-Arms. Teela handed Adam the reforged sword and he called upon the Power of Grayskull to restore the Orb of Power and all of Eternia's magic. Evil-Lyn was pleased to feel her power returning, and then surprised when Skeletor was also resurrected, having hid in an extremely hidden state inside the top of his Havoc Staff. Skeletor stabbed Adam in the back before Adam could transform into He-Man. Skeletor asked Evil-Lyn to rejoin him by his side, which she did, and along with Beast Man. Skeletor then used the Sword of Power to take the power of Grayskull to become Skelegod. [7]
