How do you answer grade-point average? ›

For example, if a student has completed 4 units in one degree, with two passes (4), one fail (0), and one distinction (6), their GPA would be: 4 + 4 + 0 + 6 = 14. They would then divide the 14 by the 4 units they studied, which would give the student a 3.5 GPA.

A Grade Point Average (GPA) is an average of all the grade points you have earned over the course of your degree program. Graduate students are required to have a certain number of a GPA, while sometimes the undergraduates are required to have a smaller number.

Whether an average GPA is good or not depends on your personal and academic objectives and on the university and study programme you choose. Usually, a GPA of 3.0 - 3.5 is considered good enough at many high schools, colleges, and universities. Top academic institutions usually require GPAs higher than 3.5.
