Hiland Dairy (2024)

It’s the Coolest Dessert

Americans have been enjoying ice cream served in a cone for more than a century. Whether you like a single or double scoop of your favorite flavor, it seems to always taste better in a cone. That’s why I dug up some history on one of America’s favorite desserts. Here’s the scoop!

The first ice cream cone was made by Italo Marchiony in 1896. He invented it in New York City and was credited with the first patent.

Ernest Hamwi introduced a similar ice cream waffle cone at the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair by Ernest Hamwi. It became an instant success.

Cones were originally rolled by hand. In 1912, Frederick Bruckman invented a machine for rolling these delicious wafers. He later sold his company to Nabisco.

Hiland Dairy was founded in 1938, and has produced farm-fresh products like ice cream ever since.

It takes approximately 50 licks to finish a single-scoop ice cream cone. Personally, it takes me about fivebites! I love Hiland Dairy Ice Cream served in a cone!
