The 2024 Spring Meet kicks off with a slate of exciting race day events leading up to the 150th Kentucky Derby. Following the Kentucky Derby, Churchill Downs Spring Meet continues with live racing throughout May and June. Learn more about each day and see available ticket options.

Twilight Thursdays return with Thoroughbred racing, $2 select domestic beer, live music and an array of locally popular food trucks in The Grove each Thursday of the Spring Meet!

Come out to the track to watch exciting live thoroughbred racing. On Senior Day, Churchill Downs invites guests 60 and older to enjoy lunch on Millionaires' Row for only $45 and can be purchased by calling 502-636-4450.*

Family Adventure Day is the perfect event for the entire family to enjoy a day of fun under the Twin Spires. Thrilling racing, and over 20 activities that kids under 12 can enjoy.

It’s Military Appreciation Day at the track, a day filled with gratitude, remembrance, and thrilling horse racing action.

What is Churchill Downs used for? ›

Churchill Downs is a horse racing complex located on Central Avenue in south Louisville, Kentucky, United States, famed for hosting the annual Kentucky Derby. It officially opened in 1875 and was named for Samuel Churchill, whose family was prominent in Kentucky for many years.

Why do they call it Churchill Downs? ›

It is named for John and Henry Churchill who leased 80 acres of land to their nephew , Colonel Merriwether Lewis Clark , in 1874 . Lewis Clark was the president of Louisville Jockey Club formed that year . The racetrack officially opened in 1875 .
