By Air By Sea You’re part of our history Bert Malcolm (Allen Malcolm’s Uncle) buys a small two cottage accommodation on Harbour Island and named it Pink Sands Lodge. Nineteen visitor’s homes with accommodation for a dozen guest each exists on Harbour Island. Allen and Remelle Malcolm with nine-year-old son, Richard purchases Pink Sands Lodge from Bert Malcolm and moves to Harbour Island from Ashland, Kentucky. Pink Sands Hotel journey begins. Pink Sands Harbour Lounge opened with liquor license. Sir Ralph Grey, British Governor of The Bahamas visited Pink Sands Lodge. Pink Sands had 33 Cottages and could accommodate up to 110 guests and a full season staff of 90 Harbour Islanders. Pink Sands was the largest employer on Harbour Island. Also had 3 tennis courts, a pool and 2 restaurants Malcolm family sells Pink Sands. Bahamas longest resort hotel operation under one unbroken ownership and management (37 years or 40 years if Bert Malcolm’s period is counted. Chris Blackwell, (Island Records) purchases Pink Sands Resort and hires James & Karen Malcolm to run the resort. Known as Bahamas’ Celebrity Hideaway. Richard Malcolm gave back 60,000 square foot plot of land back to Bahamian Government. PS Limited purchases Pink Sands from Island Outpost Pink Sands Resort celebrated 65 Years by renovating Garden Terrace Restaurant and renaming it Malcolm 51. Pink Sands Resort is acquired by leading hospitality group, Orchestra Hotels & Resorts. Pink Sands undergoes a full reimagining; with property-wide renovations, upgrades, and brand development to honor the legacy of the resort while looking toward its future. Harbour Island is a crust of land only three miles long by half a mile wide. It is set off the coast of the bigger island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas’ Out Islands. With everything only a short golf cart ride or stroll away, Harbour Island offers the ultimate in convenience and ease.

How to get to Pink Sands?

Harbour Island and Eleuthera can be easily reached via air or by sea. North Eleuthera International Airport (ELH) is closest and the preferred airport for Harbour Island, Bahamas.

By Air

Your dream vacation at Pink Sands Resort begins the moment you land at North Eleuthera Airport (ELH). Airlines offering direct service to ELH include American Airlines from Miami (MIA) or Charlotte (CLT), Delta Airlines from Atlanta (ATL), Silver Airways from Ft Lauderdale (FLL) and Pineapple or Southern Air from Nassau (NAS).

Whether you’re arriving via private charter or commercial airlines, once you touch down at North Eleuthera Airport, simply collect your luggage and take a short taxi ride (under 5-minute ride) to the 3 Island Dock. From there take a 5-minute water taxi ride to Harbour Island’s Government Dock. Once at the Government Dock a short 5-minute taxi ride will get you to The Pink Sands Resort.

Pink Sands also provides assisted transfers, which includes a “Personalized Welcome” by our Butler/Bellman Team Member at the airport to assist you with luggage and transfer to The Pink Sands Resort.

By Sea

A Bahamas Fast Ferry leaves Nassau daily for Harbour Island at 8:00AM and arrives at Harbour Island Government Dock at 10:30AM. Nassau port is a 45-minute taxi ride from Nassau Airport. From Harbour Island’s Government Dock, a short 5-minute taxi ride will get you to The Pink Sands Resort.

Bert Malcolm (Allen Malcolm’s Uncle) buys a small two cottage accommodation on Harbour Island and named it Pink Sands Lodge.
