The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) started week two on Friday, June 7, with a contest between the California Redwoods and the host Carolina Chaos.
The game came down to a fourth-quarter Chaos goal, giving Carolina a 12-11 win in their first game of the weekend.
Game two, between the Utah Archers and Denver Outlaws, required overtime to find a game-winner. Denver's Brennan O'Neil found the back of the net, giving the Outlaws their first win of the season, 18-17.
On Saturday, the Chaos played game two of their homestand, this time against the New York Atlas. The Atlas scored seven goals in the first quarter, which helped them secure a 15-12 win.
In the weekend's final game, the Boston Cannons completed a second-half comeback against the Maryland Whipsnakes, outscoring Maryland 9-3 in the final two quarters. The 13-9 win improved the Cannons to 1-1.
The Philadelphia Waterdogs had their bye week but will be the host team next weekend.

California Redwoods
Attackman Ryder Garnsey (2016-2019) tallied two assists in the Redwood's first game of the season but had five of California's 19 total turnovers.
Garnsey's first assist was a pass that split two long-stick defenders and set up Wes Berg right outside the crease for an easy, quick score to tie the game at 1-1.

Garnsey's next assist gave California a 2-1 lead a few minutes later as he came up around the two-point line and perfectly timed up his pass to Rob Pannell, who popped up from behind the net.
Pannell then hit a bounce shot just outside the crease, leaving Carolina goalie Austin Kuat scrambling to find the ball, not realizing it had already made its way into the back of the net.

Garnsey wasn't the only Notre Dame alum to register a point for the Redwoods. Defensive Midfielder Brian Tevlin (2019-2023) also had an assist late in the first quarter to put the Redwoods up 4-2.
Carolina Chaos
Midfielder Eric Dobson (2021-2024) is still listed as out, though no reason has yet to be given.
However, SSDM Sergio Perkovic (2014-2017) had three shots and allowed one turnover in the Chaos win.
New York Atlas
New York is off to a fast start, finishing this weekend with a 3-0 record. The Atlas are the lone undefeated team in the PLL and the only Eastern Conference Team with a positive scoring difference.
Unfortunately for Notre Dame fans, goalie Liam Entenmann (2020-2024) has yet to make his official start for the Atlas. Instead, veteran goalie Tim Troutner has made all three starts and has a save percentage of 53% while allowing 12.3 scores per game.
Boston Cannons
Luckily for Irish fans, rookie Pat Kavanagh had an excellent weekend, scoring two goals and assisting on a third in the Cannon's win.
Kavangh's first professional goal came just inside the two-point line, as Kavanagh scooped up a loose ball, took space, and launched a long shot.

Pat's brother, Matt Kavanagh (2013-2016), had five shots and four groundballs in the Cannon win.
Defenseman Garrett Epple (2014-2017) also had a strong performance, forcing four turnovers and two groundballs.
League Standings
The Atlas sit atop the East standings with an impressive 3-0 record and a +14 scoring margin, the only team in the East with a positive margin. The Cannons are in second with a 1-1 record but a -3 differential.
The Philadelphia Waterdogs are 0-1 with a -1 differential, while the Maryland Whipsnakes are 0-2 (-8).
In the West, the Carolina Chaos are in first place, boasting a 2-1 record and the best differential in the conference, at +3.
The Utah Archers are tied with the Denver Outlaws, with both teams sporting a 1-1 record. The Archers get the nod over the Outlaws thanks to their even goal differential, whereas the Outlaws are -4.
